We’ve seen this happen too often and the police are savvy to it.  A driver (in this case an MP and Solicitor) who having received a Notice of Intended Prosecution for a driving offence who lies to the police as to the identity of the driver to avoid penalty points is guilty of a far more serious offence of perverting the course of justice which far outweighs the seriousness of the original offence – don’t be tempted to do this – there are other legal arguments that can be made on your behalf to save your licence.
